Well it is now nearly the end of my second week and things are ok. Lessons are going really well and am being a bit slack with my planning! Have had some bizarre characters to deal with however I find that singing seems to work every time! I now have no concerns about singing in front of 30 kids and am quite enjoying making a fool of myself! lol!
I love school but I am seriously hating the extreme exhaustion I seem to come home with every day! I feel like I have aged 20 years going to bed at 8:30 or 9:00 most nights. I really hope I will get used to this routine and actually be able to have a life outside of the classroom!!!!!!!
Got so much going on its mad! Being a music teacher is not as easy as most may think. I have rehearsals for various school band type things nearly every lunchtime and after school also!! Must remember what I need sometimes or school will slowly take over my world!
Anyway any sympathy greatly appreciated!

Teaching is one of those professions that requires emotional resilience. I've just been reading the blog of an experienced science teacher and he is voicing similar exhaustion to that which you describe. You have the advantage, on the discipline front, of taking the kids by surprise at the moment, and getting their mouths to do something noisy that is acceptable for the duration of your class, if needs be.
